Family Spotlight

Stories of Strength & Support

At the Center for Food Equity in Medicine, we believe that quality food and nutritional support are essential to health and well-being. Through our Family Spotlight, we honor the incredible families we serve—those navigating cancer diagnoses and other life-altering conditions with resilience and courage.

No one should face these challenges alone. Whether it’s providing meals, transportation, financial support, or simply showing up when help is needed, we are committed to standing with families in their time of need—no questions asked.

These stories are a testament to the power of community, generosity, and hope. By sharing them, we highlight the real impact of our mission and the strength of those we serve.

Ms. Sawyer

At the Center for Food Equity in Medicine (CFFEIM), we believe in standing by families through life's toughest challenges, ensuring that no one navigating a life-altering condition goes without the support they need. Ms. Sawyer’s story is a powerful testament to that mission.

Ms. Sawyer is the devoted great-grandmother and guardian of her great-grandchildren—Aaron, Andrea, and Alayna. Her journey has been filled with love, strength, and resilience, but also with challenges that no family should have to face alone.

When Aaron lost an eye at just three years old, his medical needs became a priority, requiring countless doctor’s visits and specialized care. From the very beginning, CFFEIM, led by Ann Jackson, has been by Ms. Sawyer’s side—ensuring that Aaron and his siblings never go without the care, nourishment, and transportation they need.

"I call them God’s angels. They are my blessings, the kindest people… They have helped me with food, Uber gift cards for Aaron’s doctor’s appointments, and even helped me buy a car so I could take him where he needed to go."

Through every holiday and every difficult moment, Ann and the CFFEIM team have provided unwavering support, ensuring that Ms. Sawyer and her great-grandchildren are never alone in their journey.

"Ann Jackson has been there since day one for me. She has sent her angels during all the holidays. Always. The program is awesome, and I hope they continue to support. I’m a great-grandmother raising three children, and it has lifted a lot of burden off of me. I love each and every one of them. I love Ann."

Ms. Sawyer’s story reflects the heart of CFFEIM’s mission—to provide for those in need, with no questions asked. Her gratitude fuels our purpose, and her strength inspires us to continue making an impact, one family at a time. 💜
